I am debating if I should build a new computer or not. I would like to ask you guys what would be the best solution. Here is my situation, I am only looking to build a new comp because I am frustrated with my GFX card performance on CS:S. I get 60fps but when I get into heavy gunfight, my fps drops from 60 to 20-30fps. I bugs the hell out of me when this happens. I am running an AMD 64 3500+ with an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Mobo, 1 gig of RAM (single channel), and EVGA 6800 GFX card.
My new system will consist of Intel e6600 cpu no mobo selected yet and 4 gigs dual channel RAM. EVGA 8800GTS GFX card with 640MB GDDR3. Windows Vista 64 bit OS.
Now I was thinking of just buying the EVGA 8800GTS 4 gigs of DC RAM, Windows Vista 64bit. and another 500GB HD that should put me in about $800-900. Now all of this will go on my old AMD 64 3200+ CPU and MOBO. Would that be the smarter thing to do or just go and build my new comp? Thanks
