new system won't boot - please help!

First of all, hello everybody, I am new here :)

I've got quite a bit of a problem on my hands and I'd be very very grateful for any bit of help or advice anyone could provide...
So my story starts with me having the audacity to make myself a new computer, by buying parts and assembling them on my own (I've done it before, so I thought it wouldn't pose any trouble). I'm an architect in training, so I've decided to make myself a computer strong on graphics. So, here's what I got:

And, of course, a 500 Gb Western Digital SATA harddisk

I've assembled the whole thing, turned on power, all systems working BUT it won't let me do anything - the first thing I've tried was to enter BIOS to establish boot order so that I can install Windows, but pressing the designated key (DEL in my case) for BIOS will only make the computer restart and simply show the same welcome screen before. I've read the user's guides for the motherboard (and the rest of the components) and I can't understand what I'm missing... I'm half hoping I'm just being plain stupid and missing a step, but all the computers I've assembled before (for me or friends) have worked perfectly from this step on, so I can't imagine what is going on. My fear would be that the motherboard and the graphics card are not compatible, tho, when I looked for this, I found NO specifications of this kind on the manufacturer's website (Gigabyte).

I haven't yet had time to try out another graphics card and see if it works, but I hoped someone would provide a quicker answer, in case I'm missing something very obvious.

Thanks in advance for any piece of advice or suggestion...

(PS: yes, I have made sure that the keyboard works :) )
 
Are you using a usb keyboard or a ps2?
Sometimes on rare occasions with the award bios hitting Ctrl+Alt+Delete works to get into bios
other then that i can only say take it all apart and then reassemble it
 
i've tried both... both a USB and then a PS2 (both in working order, tested on other functional computers). I'll try the ctrl+alt+del too (haven't tried that one, as I only used its designated keys).

nope. still not working. so i must have messed up something when I've assembled, right? I'll try reassembling everything again. Also, i've been told that there shouldn't be any compatibility issue between the motherboard and the graphic card, so I'm even considering faulty hardware now...
 
As i said it was on the rare occasion it works and no their shouldnt be a compatabily problem with the gpu and m/b
other then reassembling it i can only think of two other things
1/ your not hitting delete the second its turned on but waiting for the post screen or
2/ your psu isnt upto the job/faulty m/b
by the way try taking the ram out and booting see if you get any beeps?
 
the psu (power supply unit, you mean, right?) is working and it seems ok... i mean 600w should be able to hold the above mentioned configuration, right? all the answers i'm getting are pointing at a faulty motherboard. i'll try the RAM strategy as well. thanks for the help!
 
Even though it states 600w ive known generic cheap psu only to output 350w but for booting up i guess i should be fine try taking out the ram and see if you get the beeps as long as the internal speaker is working/installed
