New to computer gaming......Rate my rig

ok.....I am an IT tech/ network administrator.....but have just come into the world of computer gaming....I know my rig sucks, but it cant even run the friggin half-life 2 demo at the lowest video settings without SERIOUS framerate issues....i wanted to list my specs and get some feedback as to how bad it really is and what some good upgrade recommendations would be. Its wierd how it cant even run a 5 year old game....anyway....here are my specs...feedback please :-)


CPU----Dual Pentium E2200 @ 2.20 ghz

Ram--- 2gb DDR2 (pc26400)

video card---GeForce 7300 SE / 7200 GS.........1gb memory


I know it isnt good....but it should be able to run a friggin 5-year old game!!!
 
Your issue is with the video card. Its a very low end card. What operating system are you running? Do you have the latest drivers for it?
 
Im runing windows 7 pro....and all drivers are completely up to date.....I thought the issue was with the video card
 
one thing I dont get is that my current video card has a gig of memory....the one you suggested has 512........what exactly makes that a superior vid. card?
 
The amount of memory on the card doesn't mean as much as the clock speed and how many streaming processors the card has. Your card probably performs as good as the 6200 does. The 5670 is probably about 4 times as good as the 7200. I'm trying to find some benchmarks to post but not having any luck.
