i am new to this forum and was wondering if anybody could tell me what ddr video cards my motherboard can do. right now i have a bfg tech geforce 9600 gso and would like to upgrade i have about $150 any help is appreciated. here is my setup

gigabyte Ga-ep35-ds3l motherboard
intell e8400 processor
8 gigs of ram
windows 7 64 bit
1.5 tb of harddrive

Any pci-express video card, but if its a higher end card make sure you have the power supply connector for it.

Then you should be good to go with any pciexpress video card and it doesn't matter what type of memory the video card has.

ok, thanks alot

I saw you mention the GTS 250 in another one of your posts. That one will for sure work with your motherboard if you decide to go that route. But realistically, most GPU's nowadays use a PCI-Ex16 slot which your motherboard has.

what about this video card would it be better than the asus and will it work with windows 7

sorry thought i put the link on, here it is

That one will work and it's a step up from the GTS 250. The 5770 supports DirectX11.

I ordered that same one except it's the Turbo edition:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...333&cm_re=his_5770_1gb-_-14-161-333-_-Product

The difference between the normal HIS 5770 IceQ and the HIS 5770 IceQ Turbo is the Turbo comes overclocked out of the box. Its core clock is at 875MHz instead of 850MHz and the memory clock is at 5.0Gbps instead of 4.8Gbps.

If you click on that link you'll see it's $159.99 after mail in rebate which makes it a hell of a deal!

The 5770 is able to run most games today on very high settings, and the DirectX11 makes it pretty futureproof as well. It will be a world of difference between the 5770 and your 9600. I bet there's a lot of games that you can't even run with the 9600!

danthrax do you by any chance know the dimensions of the IceQ turbo video card, i'm not sure if that card will fit in my case. i have the raidmax smilodon case
