I know there must be tons of "new to linus" threads out there...i just need to ask my own questions, hehe :D

ok well i know there are many distros, but amongst the most common, what are the major differences? like is it more server oriented, or better interface, etc....
suppose i wanna install a program on linux, it will work on any distro?
and uhm....to say that i'm a linux noob switching over from windows, do i need lots of technical/programming experience to manage it? and is the interface misguiding at all??

thanks!

None, really they all pretty much have same program and same way to update it via a Package manager (software update)

yeah basically ,all linux distro contains the very same software

No not at all. Linux interface is very Nice and simple (at least Gnome that is)

if you wanna start in Linux i suggest you get Ubuntu HERE
and/or PCLinuxOS here

2 of the most easiest and well guided distros i know

good luck friend
