New to overclocking. Probably doing this wrong

Ok, so I have an ASUS G51VX laptop (bestbuy edition). Main reason being is that I want to be able to play battlefield 3 on it. (Probably won't play the game, but want to be able to...lol) According to systemrequirementslab.com I need a 2.4ghz cpu, and mine is a P7350 2.0ghz so I looked into overclocking and thought that could fix my requirement.

I used this guide for the overclocking
http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/401345-optimization-guide-asus-g51.html

Basically, I ran a program called SETFSB and moved the top slider until i hit 2.4ghz. I minimized the program and went back to systemrequirementslab.com and checked to see if i was green. Nope. Then I checked by right clicking "my computer" under the properties tab and it still shows running at 2.0ghz. HMMM...

So I read the rest of the article, downloaded CPU-Z, HWMonitor, and Orthos. CPU-Z shows my new core speed, but why doesn't "my computer"? Also, after closing the program I had to manually set FSB settings back to 2.0ghz. I ran orthos for a few min and it seemed to run about 70-73 degrees celsius. Normally I'm running about 53.

Now, have I done this correct? Can I leave it running at 2.4ghz, or should I only set it that high for maybe 30 mins or so? Why doesn't my new overclock speed show up anywhere... would i still be able to run battlefield 3 if i just overclock to 2.4ghz? (BTW, I don't own the game I just use it as a reference... i'm more of a tinkerer than a gamer)

I understand there are bios ways to overclock. Should I have researched more into that and try that path, or am I fine the way I did it? I run AMI bios ver 203 (i know theres a 205 upgrade, but i haven't got around to updating it and i'm not sure it would do me any good)

Anyways, theres also a setting on my bios for DTS thermal management or something like that. I did a quick google search on it since it comes default disabled and couldn't find much as to whether i should turn it on since im overclocking or turn it off.

Just so you know I'm new here and this is my first post. I've tried a few different computer related forums for things in the past few months and rarely ever get any replies. I guess forums aren't as popular as they used to be. Hopefully with the size of this forum someone should be able to help me out. Thanks in advance for your help.

so you overclocked your cpu to 2.4ghz.
Show a picture with cpu-z on it (when oc).
If it doesn't show your new speed, then you can't oc because asus locks that abilities...

It's never really smart to oc a laptop, but if the max temps are fair, then you can. (especially with your small oc)

since oc option in the bios is probably locked, you can't overclock at all I think...

You're correct that there are no bios options. CPU-Z does show my updated core speed. It just doesn't show it when i go to systemrequirementslab.com, or right click on my computer under properties. HWMonitor does show an increase and my stress test also shows cpu speed. I guess i'll just have to get the game and try it out with the overclocking to see if it will work. On my laptop i also have a Power4Gear hybrid power thing on my laptop that allows me to "turocharge" my laptop, giving me about 10% overclocking.

At normal speeds 5 mins into my stress cpu and ram test im running 72 C cpu and 69 C motherboard. @2.0ghz

Attached is a screenshot of the data @2.4ghz. I also circled what I'm trying to get show up in "my computer"... I guess maybe it just doesn't update when you overclock, but I heard it did...

yep, it does show the original clock speed always. I got my cpu running @ 4.4ghz and it doesn't show it too. Don't worry about that.
Temps are ok, can you lower your voltage on that program too? So you don't get an overheated lappy.
