New to the forum, need help with a problem

I have a problem that happens every now and then. When I open a brouser, every now and again there will be a brouser page opening one after another until it overwhelms my pop up blocker. I have to hard shut down the computer and restart toclear it. Does anyone know what the cause of this is? It can happen on almost any site, but it will happen if I open a email link in Yahoo. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this or the cause?

Also, you are running a very old version of java. Please uninstall all versions of java using add/remove programs. Java may be listed as Java or J2SE runtime. After all old versions are uninstalled please go here and install the newest version.
 
You may have a virus on your computer, some websites make your browser have pop-ups as soon as you open your browser. it is VERY annoying as i used to get this all the time. But when i re-formated my computer and installed my operating system and anti-virus and all my other programs, i accessed the web and NOT a single pop up came.

The problem only happens when I go to Gmail and inside a message I click an email hyperlink. This is the only time it happens. It then starts to open window after window and my pop up stopper can not keep up. The only way to stop it is to hard shut down the computer are reboot. I have always ran adware, and the AVG scan. I am thinking it is more in some glitch or conflict with opening a hyperlink email in Gmail. Any one had this problem before?

It could be that when you click the e-mail hyperlink you are using IE instead of Firefox (depending on the default browser). Most attacks happen within IE but I have seen them with Firefox too. Try running Malwarebyte's and tell us what you get.

Well if Malwarebyte's didn't detect anything then you're probably in the green. It might just be a spam e-mail site or what not.
