I have been thinking of upgrading my computer since it is slow in comparison to many other peoples computers and I want to do a little gaming nothing too serious though. I have been looking around the site and reading alot of the beginner information for some of the parts. Just have a few quesions for you guys.
First, I plan on getting an AMD quad core. I plan to get a Phenom II X4 but I want to know what the difference between the regular and the black edition is besides for the possible .4 GHz. I read somewhere that the black edition is better for OC. Is that all? How beneficial will hypertransport be to me?

Second If a motherboard supports a Phenom II does it support all Phenom II or just a cetain one such as X3 or X4? I ask this becasue one of the motherboards that I am considering supports Phenom II/Athlon II/Sempron 100 series. Also can you tell me the main differences between these two besides the onboard video.

Also if anyone has something that they recommend for me please go ahead and say it. I am willing to spend around $150 on each. Will that get me where I want to be? I don't want the best computer out there but I dont want the cheapest one that I can just get by with.
Thanks for any help you can give.

black edition CPU's are unlocked so you can really push it(overclock it),thats pretty much it between the two.when it says supported CPU's, Phenom II/Athlon II/Sempron 100 series, that means it can support all the phenom II,Athlon and Sempron 100 CPU's.the difference between the two mobo's is that one is aimed towards hardcore gamers/OC'ers(MSI 790FX)and the other is aimed for mainstream users(MSI 790GX).tho i should add that if you get the 790FX/890FX you will need a dedicated card(GPU) for your video.

i could recommend you a Mobo, CPU and a GPU.
Mobo/CPU- http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.591616 <-this Mobo is the 890FX which is newer(usb 3.0, sata 6, SB850) than the 790FX.
