New to Wireless Routers

Ok so my family has a desktop computer that is not wireless but I have recently ordered a wireless laptop for my use. I know that I need a wireless router but that is about the extent of what I know. How do I connect both my desktop (nonwireless) and laptop (wireless) at the same time bearing in mind that I am using DSL (meaning I must also include the DSL box - hopefully this makes sense). If any of this is unclear or wrong please correct me or ask questions. Thanks

It sounds like you have somewhat of an idea what you need, so i'll try to explain it.

I'm guessing that you're DSL modem is next to your desktop, correct? If it is, then that makes this even easier.

Alright, so you have your DSL modem (lets say next to your desktop), then you buy an 802.11g wireless router. Connect your DSL modem to the WAN port on the back of the wireless router via ethernet cable (directions that come with the router will explain in more detail). You can then connect your desktop up to the wireless router via one of the 4 LAN ports (usually), then you can connect your laptop to it via wireless.
