New video card (actually an old one :p)

Hello everyone,

I inserted a new video card a few days ago (actually an old one from my attic) because I really wanted to use two screens and this is the only card I have that can use two screens.
First I had radeon x1650 pro series and now I have AMD radeon HD 6350.

I installed a driver with catalyst autodetect. And that went perfectly, no problems no nothing.
But only when I try to startup my pc it goes wrong. If I press my On-button my pc waits around 20 seconds before it starts with starting up. I have no idea what is causing this problem.

Is there anyone who knows a sollution for this?

Alright. Am I to understand that you have BOTH the video cards fitted into your board? If yes, then remove either one alternatively and check whether the computer is responding in time or not. Otherwise, it's probably the card having issues with the current MOBO. Have you used the same card in your MOBO before?
 
No I'm sorry that I am not clear but there is only one fitted into my board.
First I had radeon x1650 pro series and now I have AMD radeon HD 6350.
I changed the x1650 series for the AMD radeon HD 6350.
And no I have not used the AMD Radeon HD 6350 in my MOBO before.
 
Alright :)

Could you please go to Device Manager by right clicking on My Computer (or Computer from Start, if you're using Windows Vista/7/8) and choosing Properties.
Under System Properties, click and open Device Manager. Look for Display Adapters and disable the driver for ATI Radeon x1650 by right clicking on it and selecting Disable.

Reboot now and check whether you're having the same problem?
 
Woops man I am so sorry, I am so confused but I am using AMD Radeon HD 6350. Forget the x1650 series :p I took out the x1650 series and put in the AMD Radeon HD 6350.

And when I try to disable it, it says that the device will not work, should I really do that?
 
What am I saying lol, it's probably the BIOS probing the devices. We need to turn off that memtest. Which BIOS are you running?
 
I don't know what BIOS I am running, how can I see that?

Open Run and type in msinfo32 and press enter. This will open up the System Information screen. Please revert with what the BIOS Version/Date reads so that we can see how to disable Memtest for that BIOS.

Alright, go into BIOS by rebooting your computer and pressing Del/F2 or whichever key is required to get into the BIOS settings. Find an option under "Boot Settings" to enable Quick Boot or Fast Boot.If there is an option for Memory Check or something along those lines, disable it. Save the settings by pressing F10 (or whichever key it says so on the BIOS screen) and exit. Reboot the computer and check whether the problem still exists?

Okay so I checked my BIOS and saw that my Quick Boot was enabled.

Then I searched for memory check and found something like check timings or something but it is so complicated with abbreviations so I don't understand anything of it.
 
Get into BIOS again and select Standard CMOS features. Play around with the Video option. What options do you get? If there are none, just press F7 and load the Optimized Defaults and save and exit. Check again.
 
I don't see a video option.

I get this when going to standard cmos features:

Ide channel 1 master - ST380011A
Ide channel 1 slave - none
Ide channel 2 master - none
Ide channel 2 slave - none
Sata channel 1 - samsung ssd 840
Sata 2, 3 & 4 - none

Drive a - 1.44m, 3.5 in.
Drive b - none
Floppy 3 mode support - disabled
Halt on - all , but keyboard

Base memory 640k
Extended memory 4193280k
 
Simply reset the CMOS by removing the small battery on the motherboard with the computer unplugged for 30 seconds. Replace battery and power up.
Then go into the bios and select default settings. Save and restart.
Then go back into the bios and ensure your boot drive is correctly set (the one with windows).
Also ensure that that the video is set to PEG. Save and restart.

Nothing more should be required apart from ensuring you have the latest drivers.
