New video card for Dell XPS

I need to get a new card for my Dell XPS comp. I'd like 512mb and something in the $100-$200 range. Would the EVGA GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512-P3-N841-AR Video Card - Retail work?

As long as you have a PCI-e slot it'll work just fine.

i think you may also need a 6-pin power connector. If your PSU doesn't have any, then you can get a molex to 6-pin adapter.

The 6-pin power connectors should look like this (the one on the right):

and use this to compare your PCI/PCI-e/AGP slots (you most likely have PCI-e)

Well, I have the card now and it went into the slot without trouble and is displaying everything fine, except for my screensaver (which says that the card isn't direct3D compatible. My games are also saying that they cannot find any direct3D compatible devices. When I tried to install the drivers that came on disc with the video card it says it doesn't have any that are compatible with my hardware. Can anyone help?

Yeah never install the drivers that come with the Installation CD's. They always have new drivers online.

And as far as the video card, I hope you didn't buy that card yet. There was one card I was going to get, although I decided against it as technology is moving faster than I'm getting spending money. I would look at the Zotac 8800GT AMP! Edition. It is overclocked 700/2000 vs 600/1800 standard. It is only $150 and the only con compared to the GTS is that it has a 256-bit memory interface which isn't bad at all. It's the same as all the other 8800GT's.
