So even if you had a DX10 game and a DX10 card, you still couldnt play it on XP?

Yeah. XP just doesn't support DX 10. You could still use the card on XP since they have backwards compatibility to support DirectX 9, but you couldn't use DX 10.

That would work, but if some DX10 games require Vista, then it's possible you cant even play it on XP. But I doubt that would happen any time soon, since the majority of users still have XP.

Yeah, I doubt that would happen also. I mean they're still making games compatible with Win 98, 2000, and ME :P
 
if your trying to build a "Heavy" gaming system then you cant limit a huge componant like the Video Card too $200, If you want a HEAVY gaming system, then i think the GTX is where you want to be (This card costs about $700)
