New Video Cards in Fall or Winter?

I tried searching for a related thread and couldnt find one to match the title... So are there going to be any new video card realeases from either ATI or Nvidia this fall or winter? If so, what are the specs?

I'm sorta getting tired of waiting and I think I might just dish out 200 bucks for the 8600 GTS 512MB DDR3

8800GT is currently the best video card for money, it cost around $250 and it performs almost as good as 8800GTX

I'm trying to compare the 880GT to the 8600 GTS, they have the same 512 MB, GDDR3, DX10, and there clock speeds are around the same ( around 640 Mhz- 675Mhz)

whats the dif between the two? If i get the 8800GT I feel like i'm payiing more for nothing. I know i'm wrong somewhere. Can u help me out?

Hmm i think I found the dif. It says the 8800GT is 256-bit and the 8600GTS is 128-bit. Can someone clearly explain what this means?
 
The difference between the 8600gts and the 8800 GT is so much in terms of performance, youd be a fool to buy an 8600, i dont know all of the specs o the cards, but the 8800gt is pro
 
Just look for some benchmarks on the 8800gt, it beats the 8800gts and isnt that far of the 8800gtx so def get the 8800gt not the 8600

Im pretty sure that 256bit is better than 128bit because The 'bit-size' (technically called memory addrerssing bus width) of the video card. Budget cards often feature 64bit memory meaning for each memory clock cycle, 64bits (8bytes) can be processed at a time. Midrange cards will generally feature a 128bit memory structure (meaning each clock cycle will allow for 16bytes to be processed) and high end cards almost always feature 256bit memory structures (for 32bytes per clock cycle).

Does the 8800GT perform around the same as 8800GTX? How can it? There is such a big price difference between them? :confused:

I've also wondered this....the GTX is 384 bit and the GT is only 256 bit....so the gtx has way more bandwidth, and memory....how the GT performs almost as well is beyond me.

Maybe it's just because the GTX has been out for a while and GT is new...so..it has a better chipset or something?
 
8800GT is based on the new G92 core

G92 can address much more textures than G80, thats why 8800GT performs very close to 8800GTX even though it has much lower memory bandwidth
