new video install is confusing

I'm ready to replace a GF2 MX200 32MB W/TV SVHS with a new XFX GeForce MX4000 64 MB video card.

However, the instructions are a bit confusing.

The very first thing the instructions say is

Step 1
• Go to Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs and remove any graphics utilities that may be instaled for current/previous display adapters.

Step 2

• Go to Control Panel - Display - Settings - Advanced - Adapter - Change
• Click Next to start the hardware wizard.
• Select 'Show all hardware' 'Standard VGA types' and Standard VGA adapter' then click Next.
• Click Next to continue installation, and re-start PC if/when prompted.

Then the instructions are about shutting down the PC and instralling the new graphics card.

But the Step 1 worries me -- could I lose my monitor viewing in the process?
Also, I don't see anything in Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs that is labeled "display adapters." I see Nvidia drivers, but is that what I should remove?
Help!

when you uninstall your drivers your card will operate @ basic resolution and colour.

if the add/remove NVidia matches the model of your graphics card then yeah

you should have a driver disc with your new graphics card

Are you saying the steps that are outlined above are not a problem?

And "remove any graphics utilities that may be instaled for current/previous display adapters" means the same as "remove the drivers for the current video card"?

Yeah, the instructions that followed also say that once the new video card is inserted to the PC, then do the new driver installation via the CD that came with the new video card.
