new Windows7 on newly installed SSD

Hello,
I have several problems resulting from "upgrading my computers"...

Construction site 1: I got a new Toshiba Tecra notebook that I wanted to boost with a SSD. The "old" hard drive of this Tecra I wanted to transfer into the older HP Pavilion notebook of my wife and replace the much smaller HD.
On my Tecra a spanish Windows7 Professional was pre-installed. For work reasons I installed an english Windows7 on the new SSD. So far so good. But when I tried to connect to the internet to make updates etc. I did not achieve internet connection but got an error message 651. I found in the internet that this could have several reasons and solutions. I tried a couple of those but without success. I do not know if it happend while trying to solve the problem or if it was the problem from the beginning but now it seems that my wireless and ethernet card are deinstalled and I do not know how to get them back installed. If I look at internet connections the only icon I get is a broad band connection (through which I get the 651 error). I believe the first step would be to get my hardware back installed and supplied with drivers. But how?

Constructions site 2:
On the Pavilion the new HD (which came from the Tecra) produces an error and it leaves me only the option to shut down. Before I installed the new HD into this computer Windows Vista was installed, but I would like to have the english Windows7 on this system, too. Is the problem that this computer lacks a driver for the new HD? Solution?

I do have the DVD for the english Windows7 and the recovery DVDs for the spanish Windows7 which was the preinstalled OS on the Tecra before I started messing it all up, but on none of the DVDs I can find the files where the drivers may be located.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

You need drivers installed on the one most likely to get the internet working. Look in device manager to see what drivers still need to be installed.

As far as the other one goes, its most likely running AHCI in the bios and you would need the sata controller driver installed. Any hard drive that was installed in a different machine will not run the operating system when installed in a new system. You can't transfer hard drives from one system to another because the hardware is all different and the machine won't boot up.

And if we are dealing with OEM Windows versions those are tied to the MoBo so you can only install on one system ever (as many times as you want). Legally of course.

Not sure if that is an issue but thought it might be. I mean OS from Toshiba and recovery discs does not sound like retail to me?

How should I start

O.k.
Thanks for the quick replies. Yes, I might have been a little bit blue eyed with my idea to easily transfer the HDD. Anyways, I am motivated to tackle some reconfiguration challenges within certain limits and somehow I believe it should be possible to make the Tecra HDD work in the Pavilion. If it is about having any internet access to download necessary files, I do have access from our stand PC (that is from where I write to the forum..).
Concerning the Windows7 versions: I actually bought the genuine english Windows7 Professional version (although this is not usual where I am right now) and this is the one that I intent to install on the 2 notebooks. And I cannot believe that this should not be possible somehow. And there actually came several recovery DVDs with the Tecra computer (2 for WinXP, 2 for Win7 32 and 2 for Win7 64). But I would like to replace the spanish versions with the english...So I if I should need something from any of these DVDs there should not be any legal nor practical restrictions (well, the latter remains to be proved...). So if you have any idea how to start to clean up the mess please let me know.

How to get the drivers on the notebook

Forgot to mention:
I managed to install the english Win7 on the Tecra with the new SSD. I just cannot connect to the internet which might (among other reasons) be because of the lack of hardware drivers. It is always hard to know what is missing if you are not dealing with this on a regular base but I would think that an network card or something like this should be installed. In the list of the device manager I can see under "others" an "ethernet controller" and a "network controller" which aparantly are lacking of a driver (marked with an interogation mark). There are several more componets that seem to have problems too, due to the lack of drivers but right know they seem less relevant to me. Question: How would I know from the device manager what other hard ware is de-installed (and perhaps just not listed) and how would I know which driver I need for those. Where could I get the "lost" drivers from? From the recovery DVDs? If so, where and how?

On the Pavilion I can boot from the WinDVD to a certain point until it says that the HD makes an error and it leaves me only the option to accept that the computer will shut down again...

An idea:

Is there a way to get the original spanish Win7 back on the Tecra with the recovery DVDs (but now on the SSD) and this way have all the drivers and then just update to the english version? Could this work?

No you can't. Fogive me for asking again but what is the make and model number for the pc thats needs the ethernet and network driver installed?

isnt there a way to install a language pack on windows and just use it to transfer the spanish to english via language pack? I remember doing something like this on my grandfathers computer under Ubuntu 9.04_64 from English to Italian. Seems like windows would have it too...

Sorry for not having stated from the beginning:
Toshiba Tecra A11-SP5001L (bought it in Chile so this is a Latin American Version I guess)

This would have been my favorite option but unfortunately language packages are only available for some Versions of Windows. The spanish preinstalled did not allow this...So I had to go for a new Windows. But if I get it right, the installation of the SSD would have required the reinstallation of the OS anyway...So there was no way around.
