New XP install, PC now nuts

I've got a older PC by Gateway, and yesterday I tried to reinstall XP because the PC didn't want to startup. I didn't have time to work on it so I put it on the back burner.
It would give me the normal startup screens and then the XP logo comes up as if it's OK but then it goes to restart again before XP loads, just like before the screen goes blank, the monitor senses no PC then the 16meg video flashes and it stalls and goes to restart.

I reformated and reinstall XP again but it still does the same problem, over and over again.
It's a 1,000 speed pentium w/512m CD burner
Any Ideas on the this?

I found the problem

I decided to replace the video card just to try something and now all is OK.

I robbed a video card from another system and now the PC works great.

Never give up..................
