Hello All,

First time builder- will use computer for take home work, web browsing, some video editing. Not much of a gamer, though I might get into it. Budget is around $800. This is what I put together on Newegg's website. Am I forgetting something? Recommendations/changes?

Thanks in advance!

Mike

For your setup that PSU should be fine. That being said the GPU you picked out isnt all that great, and like you said you might get into games more later. If you do end up upgrading your GPU later, you will also have to upgrade your PSU because 450w isnt going to be enough. It should be fine with your processor, that thing packs quite a punch too. That being said if you do start to game your GPU is really going to bottle neck your current CPUs preformance, and should be upgraded.

I would say get a better PSU right now, spend the extra 30-50$ on it. I would recommend a 700w PSU. I currently use an ABS, it isnt being sold any more but i got it for around 70$ if i recall correctly(It was on sale).

You could save a few more bucks going with a 955 instead of a 965. Both BE models and the 955 in general will clock just as good.

Plus what others have said, go with alittle better Power Supply. 500/650W range, PC Power & Cooling/ Corsair/ OCZ/ Silverstone/ BFG

Video card is up to you!

965 doesn't live up to the hype. 955 will overclock just as good, maybe better than the 965 can. (remember, the clock record holder is the 955 (not TWKR))

Thanks everyone!!

I decided to spend a little more and go for Core i5 build with an ASUS P7P55D LGA MB, a Radeon 4670 video card and a 550W power supply- along with the previous components.

Good choice mate!
