newb computer build

Well in both those kits there are crappy PSU and no GPU if this is going to be a gaming computer then a on board graphics is not going to cut it. I thought you already had a case isn't that what you said so why do you need another.

Is you budget $300 USD or a different currency. Do you need an OS because if so then it's impossible to build a system for that much with OS.

ok yes i have xp and yes usd and i have a case ram and a hd

what type of ram - speed and latency, type of HD - how large, brand. I suggest switching your os to vista and upgrading to 7, so you can support more than 4 gigabytes of ram...

No body need more the 4GB and if he has XP 64bit then he can. Do you have a product key for the OS if it has already been used you can not use it again.

but don't forget that xp won't support more than 2.8 gigs!

I've found this the best explanation for that.

Current operating systems, such as Microsoft® Windows® XP, can only use a maximum of 4 GB of address space; however, the amount of memory available to the operating system is less than 4 GB. Certain components within the computer require address space in the 4-GB range. Any address space reserved for these components cannot be used by computer memory.

+1 im liking 7 better than xp, takes a while to get used to tho, like the task bar is different, but as far as im concerned windows 7 is just a better version of vista

So you need PSU, CPU, Mobo, GPU, CD/DVD drive, RAM, and HDD right I don't think that is going to happen with 350. You might get a Phenom quad core but not a phenom II. You can probably squeeze a Phenom X3 710 in that budget.
