Well it looks like I have everyone stumped on this one.

Since my PC doesn't recognize the DVD or hard drive, I doubt if these are both bad. I'm beginning to belive it is the motherboard/chipset, any suggestions or possibilities someone else can think of??

I have this motherboard - MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum Motherboard

When you boot up do you get dvd drive light activity? Does the HDD spin up?

As stated earlier, my PC does not recognize my DVD or hard drive and therefore the PC cannot boot from these drives.

Yes the DVD light comes on and I can open/close the tray. The CPU fan is so loud I can't hear the Hard Drive.

Found the problem. I put the SATA connection to the motherboard in the wrong place. It was in a SATA connection but the wrong receptacle.
