Newbie building computer pc again

Hey it's been 4 years since my first computer which was a P4 3.0 GHZ , 1gb ram, 110gb of space, radeon 9500 graphics card. My computer is still good for it's age but has a lot of viruses and bad sound card. I just started to play World of Warcraft and planning to get a decent gaming computer. I heard intel dual core is better than amd dual core? My budge is around <$700 without monitor. Any websites that is worthing checking out? or should i just build my own at new egg. If i do a list of what i should get would be nice.

hey i just wondering what if when i put together all those parts and the computer doesn't function right. Because sometimes it happened to all my friends self build computers. I know that a manufactuer computer such as dell have less problems and also have warranty. What makes a self built computer function wrong or doesn't go optium level as it can go?
 
my first build last week was so easy. i did what i knew to do and followed the guide in theis forum and it booted and ran first try. no problems at all and havent had any at all yet. its OCed and runs stable and i cant complain. its also a gaming monster. this forum also is amazing.
