Hey, I have been out of the loop the last year and a half with all this all this tech stuff and it's time for an upgrade. My current system is an old Abit 3-max 478 P4 @ 2.4 GHz, 1GB ddr 400, ATI 1950x pro (AGP,).

I want to upgrade but have very little money, I found a motherboard that supports some of the newer CPUs and has PCI-e 4x for around $60 (and yes I know this is not the best board but I can't afford a new video card and RAM)

and this processor

Ok my main question is 1, I read that some people are using there old ddr 400 RAM with the new CPUs, can I use my old 1gb ddr 400 (3200) with this new set up? or do I need to get ddr2 667 ?

I want to get the faster RAM but right now I just can't do it,

Thanks for any help.

hmmm... I think you should be able to use it AFAIK... but I might be wrong...
even if you can, your rig will be bottlenecked by the RAM...

Thanks guys, and yes Tweak I know it supports ddr 400 but was not sure if I could use a CPU with a 800 or higher FSB with this MB/RAM.

It looks like it will work after some more research. My next question is my Power supply is 430w, I'm thinking I'm going to need more? if so how much?

Thanks again for any help.
