Ok first off, hi my name is Bill and I live in Washington State. With that said, here are my questions. I am either going to choose a P4 3.6 HT 560j socket 775 prescott chip or an AMD FX-53 socket 940 chip. I will be using my computer for pretty much everything. Internet, some gaming, movies, word processing you name it. Since I dont know what chip I want to go with, could someone help me pick out a suitable mother board for each chip? My budget is no more than $140 for the board.
This is what I had in mind for my system:
P4 3.6 socket 775 or AMD FX-53 socket 940 chip
2GB RAM
120GB HD
450W PS
DVD burner
CD burner
250mg zip drive
256mb video
Audio blaster sound card of some type
The only real drawback I see to the Intel chip is that the socket 775 cards use pci-express video and not agp, so a decent video card is going to cost more.
