Hello, I m new to this forum, and a totally noob to laptop.

Under what conditions that, when i added a 256Mb extra RAM on my laptop, but it doesn't show any changes on my Sys Info?

Well, are you sure you actually installed the ram correctly and is it seated correctly. Does it show up in the BIOS, can your laptop actually support another 256Mb or is it at its max right now. What laptop is it?? Specs?

yeah, some specs would help. the ram is "keyed" so it can only go in one way. only thing is if you didn't push it in all the way but if you didn't do that, theres no way the back cover can go back on.

some laptops have a limit as to how much RAM can be installe.d if you have a 1 Gig limit, and you install a 1Gig stick and another 512MB stick..that extra 512MB wont be recognized and will just sit in your laptop.

what kind of laptop is it?

The laptop is Satelite M30 From Toshiba.
That isn't my laptop. I also purchased a new ram for my own ASUS laptop, and it work fine on it.

it could potentially be a bad stick of memory. do you have any other laptops you can use to check the integrity of the memory?

hmm....i was not pretty sure about it, it was my friend laptop, he's in s'pore rite now. And, i don't think he dare to remove the memory and take a look on it, he doesn't know much about laptops i think.
But anyway, i did purchase a new memory stick for mine, and it works. So, maybe it's the memory stick's problem, and he told that the manufacturer promised to give him a new one later.
