Newbie video card question

Hey guys, was wondering if you could steer me in the right direction. I've got an HP Pavilion computer with AMD Athlon 2800 XP+, 512MB DDR SDRAM and a 64MB shared graphics card. I want to run some games, NHL'07, Age of Empires, Rainbow Six and so on. I bought NHL '07 hoping my computer could run it, which it will up until the puck is dropped and the screen goes blank then back to windows. I wasn't surprised. So i was wondering what i would need to purchase to run games like NHL'07 and others. I should mention i don't want top of the line, i'm not a huge gamer, just something to kill sometime once and awhile, and i'm a student.
I'm guessing i need to upgrade my video card, futureshop has this on sale: ATI Radeon X1300 Pro AGP 256MB Video Card
And the cheapest one is this: ATI Radeon 256MB Video Card (9250)
Will either one of these suffice?
As well do i need to upgrade my memory? If so, to what?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated,
Thanks
Jordan

Both of those are very low end cards. The x1300 is definetly the better of the two, but not that much better.

As for upgrading your RAM, it couldn't hurt...
