Hey all, Im semi new to computers. I know the basics about hardware.. I think. I wanted to learn more but dont really know where to start. My friend built me this computer I have now. I kinda wanted to figure out what I have. I know its a 1.25 ghz proccesor and 512 RAM I think. I also have an ASUS motherboard. Where should I start learning? I want to make my computer faster and run cooler. They only thing I have really bought is a Thermaltake fan which is pretty neat. It gets really loud lol. any idea's?

P.S. My Tt fan is under my power supply blowing outwards. The power supply air is much hotter. With my Tt fan all the way up at 5k or so RPM my computer runs at 132 Proccesor and 89 case. With my room being 73. farenheight for all

To find out what your computer has, find CPUz or Everest online. Both can be found on a Google search as the first thing. To find out how stuff works, start by reading Praetors 101 series. That will help you out a lot. You can find them in a lot of different sections around the forum.

Well, for the bus speed, that's somewhere around or less than half of what you'll find on most motherboards now... 400MHz+ is kinda the basic speed, and you can find a lot for 800+, if you're willing to shell a little extra money. And of course, for the hardcore gamer, there's higher than that, but that requires the serious amounts of cash that I don't have :(...

Do you mean your fsb or just the bus speed? if its FSB, then thats good, if its just bus speed, then there are better.

Another way to find out what your computer has is type in: dxdiag in the run command window.

dont worry if you tack the FSB * the mutiplier you get yor clock seed.
Look at the bus speed that's your FSB
