so i think i'm done?

changes to the orig:

MOBO: Asus p6t @newegg
GPU: Radeon hd 4890 @newegg
Case: CM elite @newegg (only 30 after rebate zomg!)

total comes to just a hair over 1100 beans which is good enough for me!

let me know if anyone foresees any problems in my future :D

thanks for all of your help guys! i'll be sure to stick around and contribute as best i can... plus i'm sure i'll be back once all this stuff gets here:good:

I'm jealous, you're gonna have so much fun with this build... I wish I could just build a new one every month! but alas, the money just isn't there. btw nice final choice on parts, she's a bute!

CM Elite was my first choice (for price and cooling) but I got upsold in store haha The 900 was on sale for $90 and I couldn't resist (I love my top 200mm!)

Post again when the time to build comes!

sorry, this didn't make sense to me... how will a dual channel kit "operate in 3 channel mode"?

I think he's saying that if it's already operating in triple channel, then even with a 4th stick added it will still operate in triple channel.

The bandwidth will remain the same because the ram will still operate in 3 channel mode. (# of channels is limited by the memory controller on the processor) The total bandwidth is the product of the bandwidth of each memory stick and the number of channels. Adding a fourth memory stick will increase total memory size, but should not effect bandwidth.

ohhhh I got it now. I was comparing dual channel in a dual channel board and tri for a tri board... but I get what you're sayin now. thx Drenlin
