Newegg $70 OEM HD 4830 or Brand New 9600GT

I need a new video card. So right now im looking at this: MSI OC HD 4830 newegg has no real description on what open box is.. Is it used Or it just a new video card without a box? Would you trust it?

for basically the same price ($80 but free shipping) i could get a Brand New never been used video card: 9600GT


Which really is the better card? i've heard the 9600gt is slower than the hd 4830. but all of my friends tell me the 9600GT makes up for it because it overclock very easily, i guess they have a way better physx core than the hd 4830 and really they run alot cooler. i have no experience personally with nvidia's cards, so i would like your onion

Basically i know the hd 4830 runs faster. but my question is who makes a better quailty card.
 
your friends are nvidia fanboys, the ati 4830 is better/faster than a 9800gt, which is better than an 9600gt, so i would get the 4830(especially at that price
 
well its open box though.. And guess what happens if for some reason the card doesnt work right:

So basically MSI and Newegg is released of all responsibilty of this card. So they could sell me a card with a: broken fan/pci e power output doesnt work/capacitors are bent. And this card is being sold at $69. And from what i've learned from computer equipment: There is always a reason why its at a low price

But maybe this isnt true, does anyone have any experience with neweggs open box equipment.

I've bought several open box items from Newegg, never had a problem.

my paypal balance is exactly $80. i cant put any more money towards the vid card. (my girlfriend is pregnant... all my money goes to that mistake..)

i was thinking of going safe with this: HD 3870 GDDR4

It doesn't cost much to be pregnant. And if she really is, I suggest you try to act like a decent ****ing guy and take care of her, because it's your ****ing fault. I feel bad for her if she is - not because she's pregnant - because she's stuck with you.
 
well i was joking about saying it was a mistake. im 18 shes 19. the timing just sucks, but im still sticking with her and 'trenton' (were not totally sure on the name) no matter what..

wow your kind of a dick... and what do you know about how much babies cost? and its his fault if shes pregnant, she wasnt there too?
 
I got my mobo as an open box from the Eggy had haven't had a single issue with it thus far (knock on wood). Go for it bro.

Edit: Also wanted to add, I don't think this forum was made for bashing people's lifestyles, it was made to help and discuss computer related topics. If you don't like something about someone just don't reply. Not gunning for anyone here so no hard feelings please.
 
Why not, true you do run a risk of something on the card being faulty. The best thing to do is look at the money you'll be saving vs. the maybe 20% chance you'll get a faulty item. By the way, open box just means that someone bought an item, didn't like it or received the wrong item, and sent it back. Unfortunately, with the number of items sent back in under such circumstances, it wouldn't be very business mindful for companies, such as Newegg, to test everything that is sent back (outside of the items sent back as not working of course).

He said it doesn't cost much to be pregnant, of course it's expensive to raise a baby.

Honestly, if you can't afford $25 more for a video card then you shouldn't be buying one in the first place.

So because im limited to $80 i shouldnt buy any graphic card?

And isnt it always like that? e.g: all i need to do is spend $20 more and i can get something way better.. oh wait i just found something EVEN BETTER i just need to spend $15 MORE than that.

Im glad im limited to $80 because newegg (and just any computer shop i go to) is really addictive like that.



And for $80 i think i could get some decent RETAIL video cards

Sapphire HD 3870 GDDR4
EVGA GSO

does the budget gamer not exist anymore or what?
 
The 3870 looks to be the best deal out of those 3 I believe. It should do you good for most pretty much any game

I am WELL aware of how much babies cost. And I feel it's more the guys fault. Between pressure to not wear a condom, to putting it on wrong, storing them improperly or what have you, there's more responsibility on our behalf.
I didn't comment on post birth at all. My girlfriend is 7 months pregnant, and I would rather have her not work late in pregnancy, so she didn't get a job after her summer job expired; I've payed for everything she's gotten, from $0.25 gumballs to clothing and traffic tickets.
Regardless. I am a dick. Dick's get shit done. If you're a sweetheart pushover you'll get no where and you'll be more of a nuisance than if you were just a bit of a dick.
