The link uptop is for Vista that is being sold by Newegg. I have a coupe of questions for you guys, some of you might know the answers.
1) How come its so much cheaper the Windows MSRP (these are full versions not the upgrades)?
2) How come all say 32-bit, doesnt windows come with two 32 and 64 on same CD and you just choose which one to install?

Thank you

These copies seen there are at OEM not retail prices. The retail price seen on the Vista Ultimate version is $399+. The oem version seen at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16832116213 is $199.99

Why has the 64bit version not been seen? The main reason for not seeing the Business 64bit version is that it is still in beta format with an RC2 out at the moment since last fall. The 32bit versions are just now being released. It took a couple of years for the 64bit version of XP to be released. The 64bit version of Vista won't too far off by the looks of what is seen at one vendor. http://www.yaprice.com/software/1pk-win-vista-business-64bit-p16984675.html

I am not talking about business version of vista, I was wondering if the Home Premium Vista that is being sold on Newegg supports 64-bit processors, the thing is that tihs is the only reason why I want to upgrade in the next couple of month but if the versions that are out right now are only 32bit then it just sux.
Please give more info :)
Home Premium Vista 64bit?
What is OEM price?

OEM doesn't come in a box, it is just the CD and the code. It is made for system builders.

so I am back to the same question? Is Vista that Newegg sells (home edition or ultimate) are 64bit or not?

Vista only sells 32-Bit versions of Home Basic, Premium, and Ultimate. But from what I heard, Ultimate has both 32Bit and 64Bit with it, but im not sure.

That's the 64bit Home Premium version seen at the link there. If you are running a cpu past a Socket A or P3 model you are running a 64bit capable cpu already. The older models were strictly 32bit. You can even find some Linux 64bit distros at this time. But the programs available as well as games for the most part are intended for 32bit. The full transition to 64bit by the average user is obviously going to take a good numbers of years.

I found one combo deal there where the AMD FX-60 included the 64bit version of Vista Ultimate for $399-. If it had been the 32bit version it would be on order since I've been waiting for the FX-60 to see a price drop!

From what I have done in research....OEM is a one shot deal. Cannot be re-installed without the ok from Bill's Tech. With retail you do not have to get permission from Bill should you change your system...

true, i changed my graphics card and apparently it was enough of a change for Microsoft to lock my entire system so that I couldn't access my computer, I had to call them and explain for them to finally verify that i just installed a stinking card!

I changed my mobo once and Microsoft locked my computer. I had to call their support line and explain that it's my home built system before they would give me an activation code.
