I then went to Newegg.com and put the parts you had together, I also included an OS which was another %99.99. I then put my shipping address in where i live in New Jersey and the amount totaled to $1,354.87.

So by using IBUYPOWER not only am I saving $10, They are building it for me, and i get a Standard 3-Year Limited Warranty + Lifetime Technical Support.

So why would newegg.com be the better buy?

Typically, third-party companies receive parts for much cheaper than any average consumer like you and I. Plus, they'll need to offer SOMEthing in order to make themselves seem like a worth-while option. Sometimes, buying all the parts separate is not the cheapest, no. Unless of course, you factor in all the auto-coupons, and rebates that NewEgg offers.

Personally, I wouldn't spend the time: I trust the Egg, and I trust their prices: is it always the cheapest? No way: but I do enjoy sticking to what I know and like.

IBuyPower is a very reliable site, as well, but at the same time: brand control over your own computer is not always as easy of an option, when it comes to websites like that. For example: his build included an HIS 4870, where yours will only include an "ATI 4870", which will be a standard model, and not the higher priced (better, also) HIS model.

You'll be happy either way though, I'm sure. Sometimes, it's easier for someone else to do the dirty work, and at least know that you'll receive a computer that they've made sure works. :)

Other decent websites to buy computer components from are the following:

ZipZoomFly.com
TigerDirect.com
MWave.com

But I do love NewEgg. They have terrific customer service and a great selection of components.

IBuyPower has had reports of crappy scrwing things together. PLUS the fact that newegg also has some products cheaper. Like his HD is 80 bucks. for 320GB, I can get 60-65 shipped. so thats an extra 10 bucks off. AND IbuyPower does not ALWAYS have the 5% off. Also, the 4GB RAM can be had for probably $40 after rebates, if you shop right.

Personally, I like to use a combination of the two. The last build I did, I bought a very bare bones kit from Ibuypower which basically consisted of the case, motherboard,CPU, and PSU. Then I bought the HDD, video card, memory, and monitor from Newegg. The rest, like the sound card, optical drive, and so on, were put together from stuff I already had.

Sites like Ibuypower seem to be cheaper if you are buying combination of parts, but Newegg seems to be a higher quality.

IBUYPOWER almost always has the 5% off. If they dont when your looking to purchase wait about a week and I am sure they will have it. Is crappy screwing things together that big of a problem? Would probably take about 10 min of my time to go in and make sure all the screws are tight. However it is nice having more options with Newegg.com pertaining to brands and such. But going through IBUYPOWER I am getting a machine that I know works, and has a 3 year warranty and life time technical support. I understand I can buy the computer whichever way I want, but so many people say newegg and I'm just not sure thats always the way to go if you do enough research.
