i bought a hard drive from newegg that is unstable(not detected, detected installed OS'es, freezes BIOS, extreamly slow, crashes every OS install). I need to return it and was wonder if anyone else has had to RMA anything they bought from them. How hard is the process?

It's easy. Log in to your account; Click on Returns; select the product you want to return and go from there. They don't do cross-shipping, as far as I know, so they have to receive the defective item before they ship the replacement. In the past, I've RMA'd RAM to newegg without any issues.

they say to use the orginal box etc. I have the box, im using it accutaly, the packing peanuts but not the bubble wrap. Also im not sure wich static bag it came is so i just put it one that it fits into. Are they picky about that stuff?

Naw, it sounds like you have all the bases covered. Don't worry about the bubble wrap.

When they say original box they mean the box that the hardware came in retail or OEM and all package contents, not the box they sent it to you by UPS. You can sent it back in a vacum (vacuum)? cleaner box.

i had to send back an MSI P6N platinum board and they are very good with allowing little things like a day or two over the limit. just get the return code and they will pay to have it shipped back.

I did the online chat with newegg and they gave me a UPS shipping label. I will post the info here when it gets processed.

um....how long does this take? It took about 4 days for newegg to get the harddrive i sent them but i havent got my replacement  :(

That has always been my biggest fear when buying from newegg.. getting a defective item and having to return it D:

Log into your newegg account and click on RMA status/history. If you don't find any useful information there (you should), you can chat with a rep online or call them. I'm probably stating the obvious, but I don't know what else to say. :P

It only took about ten days to receive my RAM, but City of Industry was only about 120 miles from where I lived at the time.
