My gf's computer has the big bulky 15" monitor that came with it back in 2003. I was looking at the new LCD widescreen monitors at walmart. Would they work with a older computer? Would they have the same cable inputs?

Yes, most if not all LCD monitors have legacy analog VGA inputs.
