Newest setup. Comments?

I started out with a Gateway DX4200. Then I found this site. Added a 550 watt psu and a gts250 so that I could game alittle on it.

Then I decided I wanted more. I got an Antec Nine Hundred Two case and swapped everything over to it.

About 3 months after that I bought MA790xt-UD4P motherbaord, 8 GB of Corsair XMS3 1600MHZ ram, AMD 955 BE CPU and two blue cold cathodes.

For looks I swapped out the gateway keyboard and mouse for a Razr Lycosa mirror keybaord and Lachesis mouse. Everything inlcluding my monitor had blue lights. Matched up well.

Last I wanted to have a GPU that could play anything but wasnt too crazy... so I bought a Visiontek 5870 1GB. And it did play everything at 1660x900 res on my Gateway 19 inch monitor. Also added the Cooler Master V8 at the same time.

I have been away for training in the Army for the past 7 months so when I came home I decided I wanted to go even bigger. I pulled the 5870 out and added an XFX 6950 1 GB and bought two 23'' 1080p LED monitors for Eyefinity. I have a third on the way :)

I also have another XFX 6950, Corsair HX850 PSU, and a Scythe Kama panel. I cant wait to crossfire these cards and possibly flash them to 6970 bios. We will see

So within the next few days my setup will be:

Three 23'' AOC LED 1080p Monitors in Eyefinity
Phenom II 955 BE @ 3.75ghz/Cooler Master V8
Corsair XMS3 4X2GB (8GB) 1600mhz DDR3
Gigabyte MA790XT-UD4P
Two XFX 6950 1GB in crossfirex
Corsair HX850 PSU
Antec Nine Hundred Two Case Blue Cold Cathodes
Scythe Kama Panel 3
Razr Lachesis mouse and Lycosa Mirror keyboard
Tritton AX PC Pro headphones
Seagate Barricuda 640gb
WD Caviar Black 1 TB
Windows 7 System Builders

What do you guys think?

Next month I am going to add a motherboard capable of trifire and the 2600k cpu. An H80 water cooling kit and 12+ GB of decided ram.

If gaming is your primary purpose for using your computer, stick with the RAM that you have. Games do not use over 4gb. I have never gone over 4gb on my system while gaming or in multimedia editing.

If you are going to flash the 6950s use the modded BIOS that enables the extra shaders but leaves them with the 6950 voltages and timings. Using the 6970 BIOS can wreck the card after a few weeks.

Use this BIOS to flash your cards.

go for an am3+ motherboard so you can get a better cpu in a year or 2.

He already has it. He has been training in the Army for the past 7 months.

Nice board GA MA790XT UD4P , I got one. Its alittle older now, but its one good overclocker.

If your not doing the upgrade for another month. Wait till the AMD Zambezi is released before you decide what to upgrade to.

I do edit videos a good bit and sometimes it will lag in the preview window if I have the quality maxed out. So thats why I want to go with a bit more. Just to be on the safe side.

Also I cant use that Bios you linked. I have the 1 GB card. I prob wont flash them because it doesn't work very often for the 1 GB cards. Thanks for the info, I didn't know about the modded bios.

Ya I like the board a lot. Especially for what it cost me. I got my 955 BE to 4.0 GHZ stable with the V8 cooler. But I didn't feel safe with it that high.

Is the Zambezi the same as Bulldozer? Sorry I have been away a little bit so I am not up on the new stuff.

Yeah, Bulldozer is the code name. Zambezi will be the desktop name. They are going to have 4/6 and 8 core with the module setup. Was suppost to be released in June, but was put off till sometime between now and October.

My board is just an AM3 correct? Not AM3+.

Yeah, just wait and see how Zambezi stacks up. Most of the reviews/benchmarks out are fake, so there is no way of knowing how it will be vs. Intel. Same shape here, just waiting to see before I upgrade. I'm looking at the 6 core 6000 series. But if the price difference in the 8 core is not much more, what the hell. lol . Yeah, at first it was the 8130P, but after the hold up they claim there will be a 8150P.

They say the B0 stepping was unstable, and the B1 stepping, they wanted higher clocks. But then I saw something about a C0 stepping. Its a crazy world man.
