Neww Heatsink

I'm Trying to put in a 1.3GHz Celeron on an old computer of mine, the Original processor is a 700MHz Celeron. It's a Dell and the User's Guide said that if you upgrade a proccesor, don't use the same heatsink. Is it really nessecary to get a new heatsink for that kind of an upgrade and if so are dell heatsinks different from regular heatsinks?

Thanks,
John

all heat sinks are made for a particular socket. in thins case all you need to do is find out what socket type is and then get hold of a suitably rated cooler for it

i would yes, there's a large difference in speed between the cpu's and that normally means a big difference between heat output.
also, from my experience dell doesn't make any big effort to make the cooling better than stock so thats another reaon why the cooler should be upgraded

i wouldn't worry about that duct thing that they have on there. if you get a heatsink with a fan already on it just get a new fan to go where the duct used to fit
