next gen consoles

which next gen console are you gonna get? PS3, X-box 2, Gamecube Next, or none. (Also could someone tell me how to do a poll?)

i plan

i plan to get PS3. I mean, a proccessor that can easily clock over 4.0Ghz without breaking a sweat, and a GPU that NVIDIA has been working on for 2 years put together??? That is gonna be one sicka*s system!

well i dont like x-box at all...i even think that's a REALLY crappy name. :P i'm gonna go with ps3 because i know a lot more about it and seriously believe that it will be the best system...way to many companies are backing sony and really helping them out...it's gonna be CRAZY how powerful this thing is and if sony holds true to their reputation with consoles, it should be reliable. the games will prolly be better too just based right now the ps2 games are better than x-suck...or at least in my opinion

unfortunately, sony, microsoft, or nintendo have yet to release ANY real info on their next-gens, but will most likely be expected to at this years E3. personally i think ms may be making sony's mistake from the last run and be jumping the gun a little if they are pushing for a holiday release. but who knows. i have seen some screenshots from a xbox 2(or whatever ppl want to call it, as there are no official names) prototype and the visuals were captivating. the cut-scenes and the regular game-play looked no different.
also, i am anxious to see whats going to happen with nintendo? can they deal with the blow sony just dealt them in the handheld market? and they claim something REVOLUTIONARY on their next system? is it just more nintendo hype? thats my big question...as for sony and microsoft, while i love their systems all im really expecting is just faster processor and better gfx cards...so other than that...nothing really worth drooling over yet...

oh and funzo...
when you create a new post, if you scroll down past where it says post thread, there are more options, one of them being a poll, where you can name your categories and customize your poll right there before you post.

IF I get a next generation console, it'll probably be the PS3. I own an XBox. It sucks. The control pads suck, which in most cases mean that the games are nothing short of unplayable, which means they suck, and often they aren't well made anyways. The PS2 however (and old playstation) I like.

wow it is sad when you buy a console for for its specs and NOT ITS GAMES. Xbox had no good games, has VERY FEW mascots so games than are a given for the enxt gen system? Halo, and that is it pretty much, maybe a follow up to fable. Neitehr game was all that much fun. Fable had potential till they cut the budget and short ended the game.
Playstation already released a preversion of their next gen system in japan and it flopped. The only thing they got going for them is GTA (sucky game for no dunces if you ask me, picking up a prostitute is maybe amusing once but it gets old fast). But the biggest thing that has playstation contending and the only reason i get their consoles is for square enix and the final fantasy/chrono trigger /kingdom hearts series etc.
My preference will definitely be the REVOLUTION (it hasn't been called gamecube next, its revolution right now). This will guarentee a lot of good games because it has a lot fo mascots. You always know you will have great starfox, mario, mario kart, super smash, metroid, zelda, yoshi, random rpg's like tales of symphonia (and nintendo is currently working on getting square enix to come back with them), you always will have the anruto fighting series,
and paper mario series. Those will be guaranteed with every new nintendo generation system. Plus more. You also have nintendo being very smart. THey knwo what they are doing, they know how to make the money (very good intuition on things). Reason the gamecube didn't go online is because they know that people are not going to go crazy for online right now with consoles. People do not get consoles wanting to pay monthly to play their games. Nintendo has awesome games to go online with, but the online phase is not at a point where they can do it efficiently. Nintendo wants to make sure that a) it is profitable b) it is affordable and c) they have a large interest. Nintendo provides good quality gaming. You get a mental workout, plus the fun factor. Some people are stuck up pricks and not the brightest of people and think in order to be mature or manly you have to have a game where heads fly off, and chicks flash their tits. Because that definitely makes you manly. If i want a fun FPS with gore and FREE online play, i grab a pc game like unreal tournament 2004. I am not going to waste my money on something like GTA or halo. Games that attract people who are a)perverted b) have a perverted sense of humor and laugh every time they here the word penis and C) have the mind of a 13 yo.
Games like halo are fun for a time, but not worth the money when i can get a game like unreal 2004 (halo 2 ripped this game off -.-) and have loads of fun online against my friends and other people. games like that just aren't as fun sitting at a console with weird controls. Leave FPS to the pros, consoles won't ever compete there or at least not for a long time. Playstation and xbox big sellers are the sports games and that is what keeps them going. The sport games are often best sellers, top of the list. I can enjoy those for a time until i realize that they are EXTREMELY repetitive and simplistic (still no great AI out there, instead of using one play over and over now i have to use 2 or 3 over and over). I will walk down to the gym to play basketball or football before i pick up another sport game personally, they just aren't worth the buy for me.
I will probably pick up a revolution which will be wireless compatible with the nintendo ds (no more extra cables to integrate gba/ds games with console) and the revolution is still up for debate in the area of online play (not a big deal at present). And after seeign the IN GAME FOOTAGE of the new zelda title i am wondering how the hell the revolution is going to give us better graphics than that. I am rather baffled that the gamecube had those capabilities. Im eager to see what the revolution has to offer. And as always i will pick up a ps3 eventually for the square enix games. Possibly for jak and ratchet and clank ones as well. I have yet to dive into those games but they have gotten a lot of recognition so they are on my to beat list.

Also one thing i really like abotu nintendo is they are not pushing their next gen console for a holiday release or anything. They stated at last E3 'We are not worried about the competition, we will be done when we are done, we want to give our gamers a good quality system.' or something along those lines.

well ive never owned, or liked for that matter, ay thing to do with playstation. thier graphics were awful, yes even ps2 graphics. ive found one enjoyable game with reasonable graphics on, and i cant even rememeber the name of that. ive always opted for the competition, ie N64, Dreamcast, xbox, all of which have been better than the playstation it was competing against. the dreamcast graphics were smoother than ps2, plus it came with a built in modem (granted it was only 28.8 but it was the first consoel with decent internet gaming. xbox, how can you not like xbox. yes the controllers are too big, but if you give it time you get used to it, if not buy a f***ing adapter. the games, graphics, speed and everything were better on xbox compared to any other console around. And IMO id rather play goldeneye on N64 than ANY game on PS2.

BTW in answer to the first question, evidently its not gonna be the PS3, ill go for xbox2

This is such an easy statement that you obviously don't agree on: The graphics does not make the game.
I'd rather play old Final Fantasy VII for playstation than Far Cry. Yes, it DOES have awful graphics by today's standard, but that doesn't make it a bad game. The story, music and just simple feeling gives me more satisfaction than blowing someone's eye out in Far Cry.
(I know it's not quite right comparing a fps to an rpg, but one has good graphics, the other doesn't)
See my point?

lol, as sson as they come out thats when im getting a PS2, thats when the big price drop will be, then shortly after i can get a used PS2 for 50$. I always do this, this way everytime i get the new system it is still better graphics, faster, and new games. and i spend less money this way. I stay one system behide and its still new to me.

Jman15, THe only reason were talking about specs is because as of now, we know of about 3 percent of the games that will eventully be out. Yes I agree that consoles will never be the same with a fps, but on the same idea, fighting games aren't the same in my oppinion on computer. And I don't care about graphics as much as im seeming to either. I can get addicted to a blocky NES game just as easily as I can get addicted to Doom 3. The story and aptmosphere are probably the two most important elements to a game. And if a game has both of those elements, graphics are not an issue at all.

as you said, we know few games that will be out. This si why i prefer nintendo. We knwo MANY games that will come out that will be good (if you liek there mascots, i personally do)+ we know many more games will come out. Nintendo also is mroe worried about quality of gameplay and innovative gaming style. They want to be the trend setters not copiers as stated at E3. Ps2 ship[ped out way too many games putting little or no time into them. Some good ones yes. But never anything to my liking. They seem to be going for the if we put hookers, blood guts and gore in our games people will buy them. And people will. Simply for the blood guts and gore. That is a gamer that doesn't appreciate a good game if you ask me. I don't buy a game to see how cool it is when someone loses an arm. In an FPS like that it is nice, but that doesn't make great gameplay. And FPS and whatnot don't really belong on console, and as you said, fighter games should not be on computer. But sony realzies not everyone can get a good computer to play these kind of games so they are trying to put them out on the cheaper consoles.

From what i have seen and heard, revolution looks more promising to me. Xbox let its specs for hte next gen system leak long ago which seems like a bad sign to me. And they didn't have the great gaming quality (gameplay) that nintendo and ps2 had. If microsoft is as smart is it is made out to be then i expect xbox next to be a much better system than the first. But we wll just have to wait and see. I eprsonally would like to see three great systems come out that all offer different forms of goodness to everbody so it will be worht buying all three systems. Probably won't ever hapen though :)

I watched an interview that said they could be well into the $600 price range :)

Holy $@#! you are one commited microsoft fan. How much do you think Gamecube Revolution and PS3 will cost? I'm gonna say $300 for GR, and $350-$400 for PS3. I also want PS3 though cause it will be the first Blu-Ray player i'll get.

GR will eb the cheapest console out on the amrket. Nintendo ahs been commmitted to low cheap and affordable prices for gamers since they came out. That and battery life is why the little gameboy beat the big bad 3d color lit creened handhelds of its ties. And that is also why the revolutiona and the DS have FREE wireless internet. 300 dollars maybe, but if GR is 300 then you can expect microsoft and ps3 to be much above that. I think that is also why nintendo wants to wait on releasing, they want to put more time into their system and make sure they can give to us at a low price. Its what htey stand for for the most part.

Ok, gotta respect that ;) , but DS doesn't have any internet servers yet. IT will soon, but not yet. ANd I think when PSP is making online games, it too will be free i'm guessing. LIke I said, I bet PS3 will be in the $400-$450 range. And GR is gonna have to sell like hotcakes, cause I don't think Nintendo is doing so hot nowadays with Gamecube in major decline, and the DS up against the PSP.

No offense man, but holy crap, do you think these things through before you post them? i mean, just, HOLY CRAP! I have a few things for rebuttal: GTA ain't no FPS and it ain't just about picking up prostitutes. I fact that has almost no bearing on the any part of the game. With the cube, do you just constantly want a rehashing of the SAME characters always in a similar prediciment? Granted this comes with most systems, but, I tell ya, I would get tired of having to rescue Princess Peach a bajillion times just in different ways, situations, and with better graphics and a new control scheme you gotta remember. And where is it written that you must be a stuck up prick to like playing a good old FPS where heads fly off? What if some normal people just enjoy the game, huh? Overzealous are we? And now we come to online play. Your rational is ridiculous. I'm not sure how $50/year is not an affordable amount for unlimited online play with any Live enabled title. Do you live in a shack and scrounge for sustenance or something? If anyone at Nintendo has seen the console online seen lately they would know perfectly well that there is plenty of interest and can be done just fine and be affordable and profitable. So, why then, would online on the Revolution still be up in the air? I mean, most of Microsoft's profit from the Xbox is LiveLive derived.
OK, now this one just caught me outta left field as well: What in the *insert explitive here* do mascots have to do with the fun factor of a game? I mean, who gives a *insert explitive here* about what a character looks like dancing around like a moron if the game is sincerely enterataining? Hmm?
And I guess you never say the article that I believe was on IGN or gamepro.com, that one of the Final Fantasy guys from Square said that there is going to be Final Fantasies for the Xbox 360 (the real name of the Xbox 2). So I guess that little bonus of the other consoles just got thrown out the window, eh?
Your post is so riddled with logical fallicies and incomplete, illogical thoughts, this post just begged to exist.

But, to answer the threads question: Xbox 360. It can have a hard drive, something no other system has, unless you include the one you have to buy for your PS2 (I know for the 360 the HDD wont be standard, but it will be an option). You know its graphical power will be awesome, case and point the previous Box, which, btw, was Microsoft's FIRST for foray into the console realm. I was gonna say some more stuff, but I just blanked out, so thats it for now.

O, ya here something I just noticed:
unfortunately, sony, microsoft, or nintendo have yet to release ANY real info on their next-gens,

You need to read gamespy's article called We Got Next Pt's 1 and 2. Its all about the hardware and software of the Xbox 360. It looks perty sweet. Nifty personal setting features and stuff. Check it out.
