Save some money and get a Phenom II 1090T, both are unlocked and clock about the same.

Get a AM3+ motherboard with a 900 series chipset. Will be more upgradable to Zambezi when its released.

Would change the drive to a Samsung F3/4 or Western Digital Black or Seagate 7200.12

16 gb. of memory is pretty much overkill.

Would get a 6950 or 6970 over to lowerend 6870 in crossfire.

Would go with this. But both are overkill for 6870 in crossfire or a 6950 or 6970

The HAF X is not much different from the HAF 932.You can save some money by going for 932.
Why do you need a 1000W PSU. An XFX 550W would be enough.
As for sound card I do not know much about but I have read it on the forums that the new Creatives arent that impressive.
Try this Sound Card - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829132013

Try this PSU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207013
And if you really need a high wattage PSU this 850W is available for - $100

As for GPU avoid multi GPU configs when going for a new build.

This one has a nice cooler and also the GPU will handle anything thrown at it at Full HD.

All the above plus everything what stranglehold said.

He does have two 6870s in crossfire so a 550w would not be enough. 1000W is overkill, though. Around 750w would be enough.

I think two graphics cards is pointless, but if he wants it, go for it.

6950s go for around $220 each so get an extra $30 and get better GPUs.

It's out of stock, but they refill them every couple of weeks. Have my eye on it for a new build.
