Next upgrade? GPu?

urghhh!

Not sure what to do,The 260 looks tempting but im not sure.

I still cant see it doing all that well in gta iv,because of it only having 896mb of vram.

why the hell they didnt just put 1gb on the card baffles me.

They did its called a GTX 285 twice the price for a bit more vram :P


Also most don't have a issue with GTA on their 8800GT so I doubt a 260 will suffer much to the game. The game itself is so poorly coded however I wouldn't base my buying around it.

Yeah it should do fine, if you get any lag it wont be because of your GPU. As I was saying in that other thread, I play Saints Row 2 which is a very similar game and it runs like sh*t when your driving around, when I know it should run fine on my system, so like Twist86 was saying with GTA, I assume its due to very poor coding, also its such a huge map and there's so much going on at once I would be more inclined to think my CPU would be the problem, seeing as you've got a Quad Core there shouldnt be too much problem, but Danny was saying to me last week, even with his setup he sometimes gets lag on GTA.

And to think my mate tried to turn me away from Nvidia because "their drivers are crap"! I've heard more negative feedback about ATi's drivers. Anyway lets not hijack this thread with that cos it could go on for pages!

I payed $330 (USD) including shipping for mine about a month ago :eek:
The place I bought it from now has them for $100 less :(

If I was you Nev I'd jump on that deal. Or you could wait another month and see if they drop even more.
