Next Upgrade

You actually have a pretty nice compy..... You could stand a better processor and the hard drive may seem small to some people but you're pretty much set on this......

But it's all on perspective and what you use your compy for..... My suggestion for the next upgrade is a new sound card.... Preferably one courtesy of Creative......

I donno I think my sound card is perfect for what I need. I mean it give good sound wich too me is important, but my Audigy 2 value (hey you have one too) works for me. But ya I was thinking new processor.

EDIT: Oh my sound card is not in my sig, you must of though that I used th onbaord sound. lol, Screw that! I have an Audigy 2 Value as I clued in above.

I'd say your processor is your weakest point.

That's what I was thinking. What about my motherboard, do you think I could go for the core 2 duo? Core 2 duo are the best Value for price at the moment, correct? That would mean getting a new mobo, but I could get a SLI mobo in the process and get another 7600GT later...

I would wait a few months before upgrading video cards, especially to another 7600GT. DX10 along with new video cards are going to be released very shortly, and if you want to play DX10 games, you will need a new video card.

Problem is you'll have to replace everything. Processor, Motherboard, and Ram when you upgrade. Though you will be able to recoup your losses by selling those components, and I'm sure youw oulnd't have much of a problem finding buyers here.

Your hard drive would also be a good idea, a good 320GB drive will run around a 100 or so easy, maybe less with deals.

If you're happy with it, you could jsut upgrade the hard disk, upgrade your processor to whatever the highest 939 is (3700?), and call it good until you feel compelled to upgrade later in the new year coming up.

when you have sufficient funds: go for core 2 duo, and maybe another, larger hard drive for media storage...

other than that, that's a pretty solid computer...

I'd say save your money and wait until Vista and DX10 come out..... Hopefully, by then, the price for Core 2 Duo and everything else will come down in price, and you could be a video card that supports DX10.....

Contrary to what saurian said, I don't think you have to replace RAM when you change a mobo, you may just have slower RAM than what you could have....

At what point you guys think a DX10 card would be important/crucial to have for a gamer? 1,2,3 years? When the new vidcards come it will be very expensive. So umm not sure.

Might as well wait and get a whole new system! Because if I do wait for the DX10 cards, then the rest of my setup would be a bottle neck(or atleast the mobo and CPU).

As for my harddrive, meh I don't really need anything bigger, I keep my stuff clean. That would be just a side thing to upgrade.
