I'm putting 2gether my build and I think I have everyrhing hooked up right but when I turn the monitor and comp on, it says no signal and the post code is c0. 40 seconds into it, the comp shuts down. Any advice?

That's the power state for the cpu being seen. That would be SpeedStep for Intel and PowerNow or Cool'n'Quiet for AMD. For an Award bios the first step is to clear the cmos due to failure to detect the memory installed or rmaing the board.

I've had the same problem when i built my first pc. It would turn on and then after 30 sec. it would turn off. Turned out that my power supply was faulty. I wouldn't supply for my video card which was the main problem. I went to the store and got a new ps and everything worked fine. Check that your PS is good and that i has enough watts.

A 350w supply seeing 18A on the rails will do better then a cheapie 500w only seeing 16A and poor regulation. If nothing is found wrong when trying a different supply with the board you can assume the current suppy is simply wimping out on you.

The largest draw is seen at post time when all drives and other tests like detecting memory are performed following by seeing the OS loaded. A bad board will first appear to be starting and then suddenly shut off. Bad caps or a bad bios eprom are the usual cause. Trying a different psu and clearing the cmos to see if those steps see results would be the first step.
