I have an hp pavillion dv 6000. My internet was working fine last night no problems. I woke up this morning an I have no access to internet. Hp wireless assistant shows that it is working fine. I have tried reinstalling drivers for it. It says they are working fine. However, when I search for networks and troubleshoot, it says there is no wireless card installed... any suggestions? I am losing my mind!

Have you checked device manager to ensure that the wireless card is still present in the device listing? If it is present does it have any exclamation points or question marks next to it? If it is completely missing do a search for new hardware and see if it finds anything.

what you can also do is try to restore your system back to a previous date IF YOU HAVE NOT MADE ANY SOFTWARE OR HARDWARE CHANGES... if you have then those changes {softwares installed etc} may be rendered useless...

Try a repair by right clicking on your network connection in the quick launch tab...(assuming your on windows o/s)..

Also, silly as it sounds--make sure didnt flick the wireless adapter switch to 'off' position.

..

Well if it's giving an error saying the network adapter is not present repairing the network wouldn't do anything because there wouldn't be anything to repair. A system restore may do the trick though.

thanks everyone... i did some research and found that many of the hp dv6000 had this sameproblem and hp was replacing the wireless cards free of charge. I sent it back to them and got my comp back in three days with the problem fixed. Thanks again everyone.
