No anti-aliasing in games

I have someone asking me the following question today and im not sure how to fix it.

i have 2GB ram
intel core 2 duo E2200 2.20GHz
nvidia 8800gt 512mb

I set anti-aliasing on to 16x in my nvidia control panel. And I try with 1280x1024. No AA in use,in all games. How can I fix both these issues?

Any Ideas?

Im not %100 sure if this is what your problem is but in most games, You set AA through the Games Option Menu. Should be under Display or Settings, Every game is different.

What mode do you have (application-controlled, override, enhance, off) Also, did you set the AA in global settings, or only for specific applications? Unless your games have built-in AA options, you need to use "Override Application Setting"; if the game does have AA settings built-in, you should pick "Application Controlled" (normal) or "Enhance Application Setting" (better quality, lower performance).
 
on my shitty regular old PCI, not PCI-E, i play around in the nvidia settings panel thing and u can turn off and on the option for AA before the option can be enabled on games. I usually have to turn it off when im playin some Castle Wolfenstein
