No Boot

Ok, i recently built a computer. It has a Ds4 motherboard, core 2 duo e6400, and 2 gigs of RAM. I removed a Hard Drive from a working computer and put it in my build. The problem is, i cant get it to boot. I can get into CMOS and the BIOS and everything, but after that, it enters a command prompt kind of screen. After listing all kinds of stats, it says something along the lines of:
"Verifying DMI pool..."
and it doesnt go anywhere from there. I tried telling it to boot from the CD drive first, but, when i get to the same point, all it says is:
"Press any key to boot from CD/DVD...."
and yet again, even if a press the anykey (go simpsons), nothing happens and im still stuck with a computer that wont boot.

You can't take a hard drive from a different computer and make it work with your new one. You'll need to install a new copy of windows.

I konw that, I have Windows vista that im planning to install, but at this point, i cant get far enough into booting my computer to put vista on.
