Hello all!

Firstly I would like to apologize for any formatting or grammatical errors as I am typing this on my phone. I built my computer two years ago this Christmas. It has worked perfectly ever since, but since around the end of August and start of September I have been having some major problems with it. Now, I am not sure if this has anything to do with it, but these problems all started after I got a USB MIDI Controller for my birthday. I installed Ableton Live 9 and noticed some latency issues so I installed ASIO4ALL audio driver. It was a little bit after I installed that when I started having problems. Once again, I am not sure if it's related, but it's a possibility. I have since uninstalled all audio programs and drivers that I installed to get my controller working, but the problem continues.

I guess I should explain the problem now. Basically, I'll turn my computer on and it will be fine and I'll be able to use it. After anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour passes, my computer will randomly freeze with a horrible screen glitch, the programs will slowly crash until the whole computer just crashes and freezes, or it will straight up just turn off and restart by itself. I know it's not a heating issue because I moniter all my temps and I make sure to somewhat regularly clean my case of dust, but it's never too dirty anyways. Here is an example of the horrible screen glitch I was talking about; it freezes at this and I'm forced to restart.

I am running a Sabertooth 990fx mobo, an XFX Radeon HD 6970, an AMD FX 8320 8-core 3.5 GHz CPU, 2 1TB western digital black in raid 0, and 8 gigs of g skill ripjaw ram. If you need me to be more specific with some info or just need more info, please ask!

I appreciate any help or advice you guys can offer! I'm really new here, and also pretty new to computer building, as this is my first computer that I've built. I would prefer to not have to format my hd and start over, but if I have to I will. Once again, thank you guys!

Doesn't really sound like a problem with the hardware if it happened after you installed the software. I would just reinstall Windows but there may be a easier way.

What's your power supply?

A crummy power supply and a high-end video card (such as your 6970) is a recipe for screen artifacts and crashes.

Could also be bad drivers. Can you get into Safe Mode and uninstall and reinstall your drivers?

After reinstalling your drivers, I'd suggest replacing your power supply if it's a bad one. If the issue still persists, it's likely a bad graphics card.

Can you take the graphics card out and use onboard video instead? Just to see if the graphics card if the cause of this.

I have a Corsair 850w. My motherboard unfortunately doesn't have onboard video so I can't take it out. I will try reinstalling my drivers. Thanks for the help.
