Hi, my system lost all it's default sounds, I can play winamp, movies and everything but there's no system sound, it's set on windows default in control panel but there is no sound, when I try to assign sound to funcion it tells me that the sound file is damage or it's not a sound file.

have you recently upgraded to a different version of windows, or installed something recently. When did you notice that the system sounds weren't working properly?

Week ago I cought nasty set of viruses, so I reinstalled my XP, since this new installation my sounds are gone, I didn't cought the moment when this happened, this however might be connected with new drivers for my sound card which is SB x-fi titanium fatality champion, I had problems with blue screen with file which was part of SB drivers ha20x22ka.sys and I installed new beta version from creative site, blue screen problem is solved now but my windows sound are gone, however I'm not sure if this is connected somehow, also I'm suspicious about my problems whith playing movies in any player as movies are speed up sometimes, it looks like someone is walking on a film normally then he makes four fastforwarded steps and everything goes back to normal and it is repeated every few minutes, I tried everything and it's not a codecs fault, I'm pretty sure that this is caused by the same thing that caused to windows sounds gone.
