no desktop?

hey ovenmaster wat a coincidence, i also found that page and i'm doing exactly what ti tells me to do...except the setup will not finish....i'm stuck in the setup and it will always ask for a random CD that i do not have...now my computer will not start and it always gets stuck in the installation stage...my life just keeps getting worse and worse...
 
NO DO NOT INSTALL THE OS, if the cd is bad and you need a secount one, then formating will just screw your self over. try the fixboot. it should not ask for the other cd
 
hey thanx all of you guys for helping me out...i really appreciate it! i just want to let you all know that my computer is now in working conditions...i have reinstalled windows...without reformatting my harddrive...but now my question is...can i go back to my old settings? i understand that all my files from before are still there but how do i for example call up my old desktop or use my old applications and such?

brian thanx so much for your help and suggestions but i tried the fixboot and it didnt work...partly due to the fact that i already tried to repair my boot files and it failed miserably.
 
haha blueplum thanx for helping out...but if anyone can still help me to recover my files and some of my programs that would be great
