No display

Recently we had some storms pass over and the power went off for a few seconds and afterwards I went to go turn on my computer. The computer turned on just fine as did the monitor. The problem is that there's nothing appearing on the display. It's just a blank, black screen.

Was the computer on when the power went off? When the computer turns on do you get any images like system post screen and then it goes black? Is this a store bought computer or custom built? My guess is errors on the hard drive. Disconnect hdd to see if you get any post images on monitor.

It has a new gpu and psu. When I start it up nothing at all appears on the monitor. The computer was on during the storm. I also took the cover off and and everything seems to be running just fine.

As I said, try disconnecting the hdd first to see if boot process starts. If it does then you know the hdd is bad. If it still doesn't start then try resetting cmos. If still nothing, will have to start replacing parts to determine what is bad.

When you turn on your monitor, does it show a splash screen at all? Or does the power light just turn on but the screen stays black?

I disconnected hdd and it didn't boot. I would try cmos but I don't know what that is.

Computer turns on but the screen remains black
I'm not talking about the actual computer bit. Just the monitor. For example, if you had a Dell monitor, when you turn it on, the first thing it shows is the Dell logo or some sort of a menu box of some sort looking for a signal. Does it do that? Usually, that menu box disappears after a few seconds.

Something like this...

Am I allowed to post a video on this site showing what happens when I turn it on?

Thats not a good sign if you had to turn the psu off and back on again to fix it. I don't think your troubles are over, but we'll see.
