Hi i am trying to fix a problem on my mates cpu..
I says no hhd detected...looks like this on boot up....

Pri master atapi-cd -rom
pri slave ide hard disk

no ide master h.d.d. detected!

press F1 to resume,,,,then it boots normaly....

I used to do it with XP ...iI have put on win 7 on his pc,but it still has the same problem.

I do realise the h/d should be the pri master,
i have tryed to rectify this but to no avail.....

How have you tried to rectify this? Is the HDD on the last connector of the IDE cable? Is the drive jumper set correctly? Is everything set correctly in the BIOS?

Is your HDD PATA or SATA?
If it's PATA,but you have only one HDD in that computer then you do not need the jumpers at all.If you have 2 or more then be sure you have set the jumpers for the MASTER HDD and SLAVE HDD correctly.
Then go to the BIOS and see if your HDD or HDDs are detected there...

Also make sure (if you have PATA HDD) that BOTH cables are connected properly to the HDD and to the motherboard...
I mean on the power cable and data cable...
