Im on a friends computer and the icons do not show up on the start up and i have to go on the internet through the task manager can anyone help me. All suggestions are welcome
Which version of Windows? You will have to add a little more information on that as well as what you have tried so far. One idea would be manually starting the system restore feature from the safe mode/command prompt only option seen in F8 boot menu if XP. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;304449
For XP the last resort if you are not able to find any good restore points leaves the repair install option open. Typically something is preventing the normal desktop from fully loading and first trying a restore point or booting up in safe mode to remove anything new just recently put on would be the first two steps.
