No IDE Master HDD Detected......Help please.

Hey guys, I'm trying to finish off my new build and this is what I get at startup. I am only using one hard drive for now, could this be a RAID configuration problem or a jumper problem??? Thanx in advance

There are no jumpers connected, this was an OEM hard drive. Should there be jumpers??

Depending on what Hard Drive it is it will tell you where the jumper needs to be placed.

Now in the bios (once you have done the jumper) you should make the primary boot device the hard drive.

Its a Sata drive not a IDE, no jumpers. Well theres jumpers but not Master or Slave. Are you trying to install the OS?

+1 Trying to install OS but when I start up it gives me that error, but the BIOS detects it fine.

What board is this, if it came with a floppy disk with drivers you might have to use the F6 option during the beginning to install your Sata drivers.

Asus Maximus, no floppies were provided just CD's. My problem is that the bios detects the HDD but at startup it just tells me that theres no Master HDD detected. My bios has the HDD as IDE maybe thats the problem??

Oh well if it is a SATA Driver that is a different story.

You need to have the Sata lead in the 1st port of your motherboard.

This should solve the problem... then in the bios change the primary boot to the CD / DVD drive so you can install the OS.

then you can once the OS is installed change the bios to have the primary boot device to the hard drive.

And away you go!

No problems... i had to same problem when i first built mine and then changed port and away we good.
