No internet on my laptop

I installed Windows XP on my laptop yesterday, but I've lost the internet. The cards won't work, I have no idea what drivers I need, I have at least 4 different cards to choose, and that is killing me. Because I want the laptop to be a server... But a server can't work without internet.

The cards I have are:

Xircom CreditCard Ethernet 10/100-Upgradable
Xircom CreditCard Ethernet 10/100+Modem 56
3Com Megahertz 10/100 LAN+56K Modem
3Com Megahertz 10 Mbps LAN+56K Modem

Please help, I am confused in all of this... even though I am not new to this stuff...

Without actually getting inside it or possibly finding an old configuration guide for that particular system, I don't know any other way but to try and install each card. I mean with only 4 to go through, it shouldn't be too hard to eliminate them as they do or don't work.

I have inserted them, waited for the wizard to pop up, but it did only on one or two cards... I am downloading some drivers, which I hope will work... The 1st Xircom worked on Ubuntu, the Windows XP before that... but now it doesn't... that is weird.
