No keyboard response on power up

Hi all, I've just finished building a gaming computer, but when I turn it on the ASUS screen appears and it gives me the option of Entering setup or display post BIOS screen. But the keyboard wont respond. I've tried two different keyboards and it's the same thing. One keyboard had a PS/2 connector and the other was USB. The PS/2 keyboard was from my old HP computer and the other keyboard is a Dell and they both work fine on other computers. Is the screen that appears an indication everything's fine so far? Specs are below:

Core 2 Duo E6600
ASUS P5N-E SLI
eVGA 8800GTS 320MB Superclocked
WD 200GB HD
Pioneer DVD drive (Hewlett Packard) (taken from my old PC)
Arctic Power 500W PSU

Sounds like an dead keyboard slot. RMA time.

I wouldn't necessarily say that, since it does not work in either the USB or PS/2 connection. But, you never know. It could be the mother board.

Sorry I don't have any other info for you, kinda lost on what it could be.

USB is not supposed to work at bootup remember? Only PS/2

hey, i had the same problem when i built my computer (same motherboard as you). what fixed it for me, oddly enough, was setting the RAM timings manually. i had to remove all but one stick of RAM, then i was able to get into the BIOS and the keyboard would respond. after setting the timings manually, everything worked fine for me. i would give it a shot, you should also update your BIOS if you arent using the newest
